John Started A Blog

A good friend of mine, who is also our youth pastor, John Blackmon started a blog. You can check it out HERE. The way his mind works is like no one else I know. Check it out and see what I mean!

Why You Need The Bible

Have you ever realized that in your own mind you can make God out to what you want Him to be? For some people He is an angry policeman waiting for them to miss a quiet time so He can rebuke them. For others, He is a tolerant grandfather who smilingly endures their sinful rebellion because He is just happy to be a part of their lives. Someone said that God made man in His own image and man returned the favor!

This is why we need the Bible! We need it to shape our view of who God is. I think most of the Christian life is a fight to see God as He is. It’s not so much a battle to keep nagging sins at bay and to maintain a consistent devotional life, it’s a battle to see God as He is. When this is done, we worship and pray and respond to Him the way He desires and we enjoy Him the most.

How To Waste 10 Minutes

Amos 5:23

On The Road Again

I am traveling to Gulfport, MS to do a one night service at Belaire Baptist Church. Looking forward to it, please pray that the Spirit moves and that lives are touched through the sermon. I am preaching on Romans 1:16 and unpacking the 3 ways that humans can live their lives. Hopefully the audio will be up in a few days and I can share it.

Why The Church Exists

“The church exists for nothing else but to draw men into Christ, to make them little Christs. If they are not doing that, all the cathedrals, clergy, missions, sermons, even the Bible itself, are simply a waste of time.” (CS Lewis, Mere Christianity)

A Prayer

Lord Jesus, whatever makes me press into you and unites all the affections of my heart and the inclinations of my will around the beauty of your name and fame, let it be done in my life, so that if you so choose, others may be stirred up for you through me. Amen!

Missing The Mission

In every Church, in every institution, there is something which sooner or later works against the very purpose for which it came into existence.” (CS Lewis, Letters To Malcolm)
